JoomFish Review

joomfish_slogan_transIf you ever feel the need to support multiple languages on your joomla site, which happens often for many designers, JoomFish should always be your first step. The description for Joomfish states the following: “Joomfish is the solution for your multilingual website if control over the translations matters for you.” The thought behind JoomFish is to have additional versions of your content available in other languages. JoomFish attaches to all of your categories, articles, menus and other content linking your 2nd languages content in almost an identical way making for very easy organization and structure. It creates the structure, you provide the translated text. Once installed, your users can arrive at your site under one of your langauges, click on an icon or text that is familiar to them, and be transported to the supporting content in a language they understand.

How to setup Huru Helpdesk with a basic configuration.

Transcription:

1. Today I'm going to be walking you through how to setup Huru Helpdesk which will add a great support system to your joomla sites. This can be found in the extension directory under clients, help desk and it's my top pick from this category.

Huru is a completely free open source solution that allows you to create categories, departments, and even a knowledge base that is automatically updated with questions and solutions you exhange with your users.

To begin you will need to download the latest version as well as the user synchronization plugin from huruhelpdesk.net

For this example I'll be adding this helpdesk to a new directory website I'm working on and will be creating links in the footer of my site for Submitting a Ticket, viewing support tickets, and accessing the knowledgebase. If you'd like to see it in use on this site, visit urlinkdirectory.com

2. Once you've acquired both files head on over to your sites administrative backend. Go to extensions, install/uninstall, and let's select and install the component file, which will be the one beginning with "com" Next select and install the user synchronization plugin beginning with plg. Now that that's installed go to extensions, plugins. I have a lot of plugins installed on this site so I'm going to type huru in the filter box to help me locate it. Once you find it, click ono it to change it's settings. Now you should enable the plugin and this will allow all of your sites users to be seen in the help desk. There is one other option here which when checked will automatically assign the users it synchronizes as standard users instead of their current registration level. I'm going to leave that set to no and hit save. Now that the plugin is enabled we can go to components, huru help desk. There are a lot of settings in the configuration settings menu, but for now let's start with the simple tasks of creating a department and our first category. So go to departments, and then NEW.
